Some of you requested a script for the Math Kangaroo competition time. Feel free to use this suggestion below or modify it to suit your style.
You distribute the questions booklets and the answer forms while the students arrive. You need a person or two who make sure that the students do not open the booklets before the competition starts.
1. Say: Good Evening and welcome to Math Kangaroo say the year. My name is your name and I will be proctoring or supervising your test this evening. First, we would like for everyone to pose for a group picture.
2. Say: Before getting started, we need to go over some rules. The rules need to be on the board before hand. Go over rules on board. Then say: Are there any questions?
3. Say: Now is the time to use restrooms. We will wait until everybody is back, do not worry. Let the kids use the restrooms.
4. Say: Write your name on the question workbook. Now make sure your name is on your answer sheet and bubble in the ID number on it (if it was not bubbled in in advance). Show how! Say: Do not open your question booklet until I tell you to start.
5. Say: You will have a total of 75 minutes in which to complete the test. I will let you know when you have 15 minutes left. Afterwards I will let you know when you have five minutes left. When you bring up your answer sheet you will receive your T shirt and diploma. We would also like you to take your question booklet home with you. If you finish early you may bring up your answer sheet and leave with your parents. Does anyone have any questions? You may now start.
